Description Antique Qing Dynasty Silver Box with Twin Dragon Design From our Silver collection, we are pleased to present this fine Chinese Silver Dragon Box by Hung Chong & Co. Cast in a circular form, the box is richly decorated with twin dragons in high relief. The lid features a coiled dragon encircling a flaming pearl, cleverly centred to act as a cartouche. A second dragon wraps around the perimeter of the body, its sinuous form chased with intricate scales and framed by swirling clouds, also pursuing a flaming pearl. Each dragon is modelled with four claws, a traditional motif symbolising imperial power, strength, and good fortune. The underside of the box bears the maker’s signature, “Hung Chong & Co,” engraved in both English and Chinese calligraphy. Dating to the late Qing dynasty around 1900, the box is a fine example of Hung Chong’s work at the height of their silver production.
