The Candlesticks made from natural boar tusk mounted with an octagonal sterling silver base with mounted scrollwork and a sterling silver sconce with repousse ribbon work. The Silver Mounted Boar Tusk Candlesticks are hallmarked Sheffield, Sterling by John Rodgers & Sons and dated to the late Victorian period 1897. The company was founded in 1724 by John Rodgers who was later joined by his three sons, John, Joseph and Maurice. The company moved to 6 Norfolk St. Sheffield in the 1780s for and remained there until the late 1920s. In 1800 the firm was renamed Joseph Rodgers & sons and the company expanded specialised in pens, pocket knives and towards the latter 1800’s exhibition displays. The company bought George Wostenholm and Son Ltd in 1971 but stopped trading in 1983.In 1986, the Rodgers name was bought by Egginton Brothers.
