Description A Georgian blonde tortoiseshell tea caddy of square form with canted corners, veneered throughout in vibrant blonde tortoiseshell, dating to circa 1790. The exterior displays the distinctive lighter tones of blonde tortoiseshell, with natural variation across each panel creating a striking surface. The clean square shape with canted corners reflects late eighteenth century design, where form and material were used together to create visual interest. Opening the tea caddy reveals a fitted interior with a single compartment, faced in boxwood. The interior retains traces of the original silver foil lining, traditionally used to preserve tea.
